Checking your PC for viruses

Viruses, Trojans and Keyloggers

Usually, antivirus programs specialize in finding and neutralizing most threats that you can encounter. This includes so-called worms, trojans, backdoors, keyloggers, and other similar harmful elements. Spyware and adware can be invisible to antivirus programs, depending on the program. You'll need to use additional safeguarding software besides antivirus to detect and delete them.

Spyware

Spyware is spy software designed to track the actions performed on your PC. Such programs may cause game applications to operate incorrectly.

We recommend using the following special anti-malware applications to detect and delete viruses and spyware:

• Spybot — Search & Destroy
• Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Adware programs

Adware describes programs that gather information about your interests to show you the most relevant ads. When gathering such information, adware programs use the list of visited websites and other activities you perform on your PC.

Adware programs are most often installed on your PC without your knowledge—such as when you install shareware—and can't be deleted using regular procedures. Antivirus programs usually don't consider adware harmful and thus don't interfere with it.

Adware on your PC may cause game applications and their components to malfunction, which includes interfering with the World of Tanks in-game browser.

We recommend the following software to clean adware programs from your PC:

• AdwCleaner

1. Download the program.
2. Select a language and then follow the installer tips.
3. Launch the program, then select Update in the Start Center window.
4. In the window, click Update and wait for the anti-spyware base to download and install.
5. In the Start Center window, select System Scan and click Start a scan in the resulting window.
6. After the scan is complete, the program will provide a report with specified potential threats, each one marked with a Threat Level indicator.
7. Tick the required menu entries and then click Fix selected. In the list, removed threats will be marked green.

1. Download the program.

3. Launch the program. You'll see the following window.
4. Go to the Scan tab, select the required scan type, and click Start scan.
5. Before the scan starts, the program will automatically check with the update server and install updates if necessary.
6. After the scan is complete, the program will provide a report.

3. After the scan is complete, the program will provide a report.
4. Select the required points and click Clean.
5. The program may ask you to close other applications. When you click OK, the applications will be closed automatically.
6. After you delete the adware programs, you will need to restart your PC.
7. After restarting, the report will open automatically.
